Macau Day Tour: The Macau was colonized by the Portuguese for 400 years before reverting to Chinese rule in 1999, and is listed as a World Heritage site. Situated 37 miles south west of Hong Kong, it is reached by a 60 minute fast ferry. The city itself has a faded Mediterranean atmosphere and charm, and is best known for its Casinos and Grand Prix racing. You will be visiting the Barrier Gate to China and the Ruins of Sao Paulo, A-Ma Temple, as well as Macau Casino to try your luck. Lunch is included on the trip. Land Between Tour: 'The Land Between' is a name given to the New Territories, where rural beauty is a great contrast to the modern city of Hong Kong. The first stop at the Yuen Yuen Temple, dedicated to the contributions of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism to local society, and then on through the countryside and up the tallest mountain in Hong Kong, Tai Mo Shan, for a panoramic view of Hong Kong Island. We reach the border of China at Luk Keng with its bird sanctuary where Chinese pond herons and night herons may be seen, and then on to the fishing village of Sam Mun Tsai to see how local fishermen breed fish in submerged cages. Extension Tour to Macau:
Day 1: Hong Kong/Macau morning pick up from your Hong Kong hotel and transfer to the ferry terminal for departure to Macau. You will need your passport. The journey through Hong Kong Harbour and outlying islands takes just sixty minutes by fast ferry. On arrival take an organised tour of the city visiting the ruins of St. Paul’s Cathedral, a walking tour to the old town square visiting ‘World Heritage’ sites on the way. There is also a visit to the A Ma Temple. Lunch is provided. Transfer to your hotel for the rest of the day at leisure. Overnight Sintra Hotel Macau (or similar).
